Implementing learning - don't just 'learn & burn'
Learning is great, but the real secret is being able to teach in such a way that the learning is useful and applicable. And delivered in such a way that the lessons are directly and immediately applied.

Today, life is throwing us unparalleled challenges and unforeseen hurdles – so it is essential that we continue to learn in order to be able to manage the changes we face. But it is also important to remember we can’t learn everything – nor do we have to. What we DO need to learn are tools and strategies that will help us cope, and help us move from survive to thrive. Therefore we need to be able to decipher the specific tools and strategies we should learn that will make the most impact and assist us in managing our own unique set of challenges.

The most satisfying part of what I do is seeing and hearing the direct feedback from those that have embraced the learning and applied it in their life. I’ve seen teams switch from ‘oh not another training series‘ to ‘WOW I can actually use this stuff’. That’s why I wanted to share with you a couple of ways to ensure you don’t waste your money on unnecessary or unproductive training – but select training that will allow you to make real and positive change – be it for yourself or for your team.

Answer the following questions to ensure you’re going to be getting the most out of your next learning experience.
  • Is it going to be specifically relevant and applicable to me or my team?

What is good for one person might be totally irrelevant to another. We’re bombarded with messages about what we should learn, what we need to know, what we don’t know. But we can’t learn everything. So whether you are investing in self-development for yourself, or putting your whole team through intensive training – if it’s not going to be specifically designed and completely relevant for where you are and where you’re going, you’ll be wasting your time. The reason why I get reviews like I do is because I spend a significant amount of time understanding the company, organisation or individual. I know what their unique challenges are and I design learning experiences that are tailored to suit. In the end, the learning is then not just a quick fix but an embedded change.

  • Am I going to be able to use this information straight away and will I be able to access and use the information when I need it again?

In my many year’s training, coaching and delivering programs – the one thing I ALWAYS ensure I deliver is TANGIBLE TAKEAWAYS.There is NO POINT in investing in training (time or money) unless you know you can access the information readily afterwards and put it into practice in everyday life – at work or wherever you are wanting to implement the learning.

My training is accessible, digestible and transferable. It’s designed to be there for you to refer to and immediately applicable in your life.

So ensure that whatever you invest in has longevity and won’t be just another ‘learn and burn’. Look for the long-term value – better still, calculate the ‘Return On Investment’ in a way that is meaningful to you.

Learning is great, but focus on what it is you want and need and you’ll not only enjoy the experience but take the immense value that will improve your life immeasurably.
